April 2009

Hello

So here we are the start of the show season, are you ready? Thought not!! Don’t worry neither am I. The Last few weeks have been a hectic mix of working to raise the money to pay for our epic European trip in September and using all my free time trying to finish off Michele’s K- reg Mini cooper in time for the new season.

When I bought the Rover cooper spi I must admit I never thought I’d be totally rebuilding the whole car. The previous owner had parked it up on grass for over 4 years so it’s not a surprise that I’ve had to replace so many body panels. What has come, as a bit of a shock was the appalling state of the mechanical parts. The knock on effect has been a delay to finishing the project. Im delighted to say things are now progressing well and fingers crossed the car will be ready by the end of April.

The club went to Brooklands although we never booked a stand. I was happy to see several members had also made the effort to go. This is the first time I have been to this show. I enjoyed the day out.

Anyone who is waiting for their London to Brighton run tickets we now have them and will be sending them out with this newsletter. Once again we did not get a club stand as they are very limited and are on a first come basis, which is ok for the small clubs that can send them back straightway but we have to put a booking form out to all our members via a newsletter and give them time to post in back., so like most of the bigger clubs we did not do this quick enough to obtain one, but after talking to their chairman we hope to have one next year. I personally will not be going to Brighton, (Working all weekend). This is the first time in 15 years I will have missed the run so im taking this opportunity to wish everyone a great day out.

The first show in May will be at Shuttleworth in Old Warden just up the A1 this is a classic car show which goes on all weekend with a great fly over of vintage aircraft on the bank Holiday Monday (if weather permits) so if you are interested just phone Michele on 01438 225441 to obtain a ticket for Just £3 per car (on the gate it will be £7 per person each day) so come on and get a great day out at a fraction of the price.

Well I hope to see you all a one of the many shows through out the season.

Alec
